Cancer is very hard to fight off once it develops in the body. A cancer patient has to undergo a lot of treatments, especially if the disease is already at its late stages. But before this happens, cancer could be prevented through a healthy eating lifestyle. How do you prevent cancer?
First of all, you need to cut down on junk foods and fatty foods and get used to healthy foods such as vegetables and fruits. The body needs fats but it requires just the right amount to keep your body healthy. Saturated fats are not healthy for the body. They are those that come from animals. You could lessen the amount of fats that you eat by the cooking method that you apply. Frying is provides the largest amount of fats as well as cholesterols. There are alternatives to frying that you could use such as poaching, baking, etc. Cooking oil also adds a great deal to the fats in the food so use only a limited amount when cooking.
Make sure that you get all the nutrients that your body needs by eating different kinds of foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. You should also maintain a good intake of fiber as it aids your body with digestion. The best source of fiber is water, so maintain a good water intake. It should be at least eight glasses a day. Other sources of fiber are foods like grains, beans, cabbages, etc.
Protein is a nutrient that the body needs for it healing, repair and growth. An example of a good source of protein are fish, meat and poultry.
Excessive drinking of alcohol should also be avoided as it damages the liver and could even be the source of cancer itself. It contains no nutrients so the body does not benefit from it entirely.
